How the Morse code quiz works

The quiz combines written, listening and light-signal exercises so that you practise Morse code in both directions.

1

Choose a mode and difficulty

Choose written, listening, visual or mixed mode, then select beginner, intermediate or advanced.

2

Answer ten questions

Depending on the selected mode, each game uses written Morse, sound, light flashes or a combination of all three.

3

Review your result

After each answer you will see the correct solution. At the end, compare your score with your personal best.

Morse code test levels

The three levels let you progress gradually from simple signals to complete words.

Beginner

Work with short-code letters and easily distinguished patterns such as E, T, A, N, I, M, S and O.

Intermediate

Expand the exercise to the complete alphabet and the numbers from 0 to 9.

Advanced

Practise complete words through written, audio and light signals at a higher difficulty.

What you can practise with this quiz

Recognising Morse means associating written patterns, sound rhythms and light flashes with their characters.

Reading signals

Learn to identify letters, numbers and words from their combinations of dots and dashes.

Sound and light signals

Learn to distinguish dot and dash duration through both tones and light flashes.

Memory and speed

Repeated games help you remember patterns and answer more quickly.

Tips to improve your score

  1. Begin with the shortest signals before memorising longer characters.
  2. Compare opposite characters, such as A ·— and N —·, to remember the order of their signals.
  3. For sound and light questions, use the dot and dash examples first and then recognise the complete rhythm.
  4. Repeat the same level until your score is consistent before increasing the difficulty.
